Embry Special Fund Supports Underwear Research Innovation

On 28 December 2009, Mr. Xu Kunyuan, Chairman of the "Textile Vision Science and Education Foundation" and Mr. Cheng Man Tai, Chairman of Embry Holdings Limited jointly signed the "Textile Vision Science and Education Foundation - Cheng Man Tai China Knitwear (Underwear) Fund" donation agreement at the beautiful Embry Shandong Industrial Park, marking the formal establishment of the "Cheng Man Tai China Knitwear (Underwear) Fund". The signing ceremony was attended by Yang Jizhao, Secretary-General of China Textile Industry Association, Yang Shibin, Chairman, and Qu Jing, Vice Secretary-General of China Knitting Industry Association, Zhao Chuanxiang, Manager of Shandong Provincial Textile Industry Office, Wei Kan, Secretary-General of Textile Vision Science and Education Foundation, Liza Cheng, Executive Director and CEO of Embry Holdings Limited, Ngok Ming Chu, Executive Director of Embry Holdings Limited, Hung Hin Kit, Executive Director of Embry Holdings Limited, and Lu Qun, Assistant General Manager of both Embry (China) Garments Limited and Embry (Shandong) Garments Limited among others.

It is understood that Mr. Cheng Man Tai will donate RMB10 million to the Textile Vision Science and Education Foundation on this occasion to establish the "Cheng Man Tai China Knitwear (Underwear) Fund" which will be used to fund special research and development projects focusing on design innovation, technical innovation, development of specialist equipment, process standardization and re-engineering in the China underwear industry as well as demand and development trends in international and domestic markets. By pointing a spotlight on technology, the fund aims to provide a strong platform to promote the research standards and development of the knitted underwear industry in China with the ultimate goal of producing a world-class business platform for China underwear. Day-to-day operation of the fund will be the responsibility of the China Knitting Industry Association.

Tech talent is an essential link in the development of the industry. By promoting the educational development in textile science and technology, the fund not only drives forward innovation in the research and development of textile products, it will also accelerate the pace of scientific and technological innovation in the textile industry. The "Textile Vision Science and Education Foundation" established on 2 July 2008 replaced the "Qian Zhiguang Science and Education Fund", a fund that played a major role in developing textile science and education, awarding over 2,000 "Qian Zhiguang Science and Education Prizes" and scholarships to outstanding technology workers, teachers and students over a decade of operation.

Mr. Xu Kunyuan, Chairman of Textile Vision Science and Education Foundation indicated that the establishment of "Cheng Man Tai China Knitwear (Underwear) Fund" marked the first time in China that special research projects had been set up to identify design innovations, technical innovations and industrial advancements in the textile industry for use in the underwear industry, providing a strong platform for encouraging active exploration of innovative models for product development in new economic environments and the overall development of the underwear industry in China.

As a leading lingerie brand, Embry has focused on promoting the development of the China underwear industry over many years, establishing the first fitting rooms in China, providing special fitting guidance, actively drafting industry standards, promoting eco-friendly textile certification systems, cultivating a spirit of research and development innovation and innovating the development of underwear technologies. To date, Embry has independently researched and developed more than 30 patents that enhance the total well-being of women.
